Abstract

This scientific article examines the traditional and modern methods applied in teaching English to students specializing in technical education. In the context of globalization and rapid technological development, English has become an essential tool for professional communication in engineering, technology, and scientific research. Therefore, the effective teaching of English in technical universities plays a crucial role in preparing competitive specialists who are capable of participating in international professional environments.

The study analyzes the theoretical foundations of English language teaching in technical fields and focuses on the pedagogical features of both conventional and innovative instructional approaches. Particular attention is given to the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) approach, which emphasizes the use of professional terminology, authentic technical materials, and discipline-specific communication tasks relevant to students’ future careers.

The article highlights the role and significance of communicative, task-based, project-oriented, technology-enhanced, and blended learning methods as key factors contributing to the development of linguistic, digital, and professional competencies required in the training of future engineers and technicians. These methods encourage student-centered learning, active participation, critical thinking, and the practical application of language skills in professional contexts.
