COMPETENCY-BASED TRAINING IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: DEVELOPING INDUSTRY-READY SKILLS THROUGH PRACTICAL LEARNING

Abstract

This research investigates the role of competency-based training (CBT) in mechanical engineering education, focusing on the development of industry-ready skills through practical learning experiences. The study emphasizes the shift from traditional learning models to competency-based approaches, which prioritize mastery of specific skills over time spent in the classroom. It explores the integration of hands-on training, real-world problem-solving, and industry collaboration to ensure that mechanical engineering students acquire the competencies necessary for success in the workplace. By analyzing various vocational training programs and industry partnerships, the research examines the effectiveness of CBT in bridging the skills gap between academic education and industry expectations. The findings highlight how practical learning environments, such as workshops, internships, and project-based courses, enable students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, thereby enhancing their technical proficiency and employability.
