SUSTAINABILITY IN MECHANICAL SYSTEMS: TEACHING ECO-FRIENDLY APPROACHES TO VOCATIONAL STUDENTS

This study explores the integration of sustainability concepts into mechanical systems education for vocational students, with a focus on teaching eco-friendly approaches to engineering design and manufacturing processes. As global concerns over environmental impact intensify, it is essential for future engineers to adopt sustainable practices in their work. The research examines how vocational training programs in mechanical engineering can incorporate sustainability into their curricula, emphasizing energy-efficient systems, renewable resources, and waste reduction techniques. Through case studies, industry collaboration, and hands-on projects, the study assesses the effectiveness of practical learning experiences in promoting eco-friendly solutions and environmental responsibility among students. It also analyzes the role of instructors in guiding students toward green technologies and sustainable practices in mechanical systems. The findings suggest that embedding sustainability into the training process not only enhances students' technical competencies but also fosters a culture of environmental stewardship in the mechanical engineering field. The paper concludes with recommendations for improving vocational education to ensure that future engineers are well-prepared to meet the challenges of sustainable development and contribute to a greener economy.
