A Technology-Enhanced Approach to Sociolinguistic Awareness in English Language Teacher Education

The continually changing environment of English language teaching (ELT) means a developing conceptualization to apparent that exploits the social perspective on learning and utilization. Abstract This paper explores how technology might be used to better develop sociolinguistic awareness, one aspect of linguistic creativity as well a key component in all levels of language proficiency and development including second/foreign language teacher education. Technology-integrated approaches can overcome these traditional teacher training consternations by delivering engaging, interactive and readily available learning experiences as it claims. Literature overviews how sociolinguistic competence can be developed through technology-enhanced teaching and learning (e.g., online corpora, virtual simulations or digital storytelling platforms).
