EXPLORING THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON DIGITAL LITERACY AMONG ADOLESCENTS

This study explores the impact of social media on the development of digital literacy among adolescents. As social media platforms become increasingly integrated into the daily lives of young people, they serve as both a tool for communication and a source of information. The research examines how adolescents use social media for educational purposes, information gathering, and communication, and how this usage affects their digital literacy skills, including the ability to evaluate online content, understand privacy issues, and engage with digital platforms critically. Through surveys and interviews with adolescents, the study investigates the benefits and challenges of social media as a tool for developing digital literacy. The findings suggest that while social media enhances certain aspects of digital literacy, such as information sharing and collaboration, it also presents risks, including exposure to misinformation and challenges with privacy management. The study recommends strategies for guiding adolescents in using social media responsibly to enhance their digital literacy in a balanced and effective manner.
