CRISIS MANAGEMENT IN EDUCATION: THE ROLE OF LEADERSHIP DURING TIMES OF CRISIS IN THE PHILIPPINES

This study examines the pivotal role of leadership in crisis management within the educational sector in the Philippines, focusing on the strategies employed by school leaders during periods of disruption, such as natural disasters, pandemics, and political crises. The research highlights the various leadership styles adopted by school administrators to ensure continuity of education and support for students and teachers during crises. It explores how effective leadership can mitigate the negative impacts of crises on educational outcomes, including the implementation of flexible learning systems, psychological support for affected individuals, and maintaining communication with stakeholders. The study also investigates the challenges faced by educational leaders, such as resource limitations, infrastructural damage, and social inequality, and how they adapt to these challenges to maintain operational resilience. Additionally, it provides insights into the preparedness and adaptability of educational institutions in crisis situations, offering recommendations for enhancing crisis management frameworks. The findings aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of how leadership can promote organizational resilience, ensure the well-being of all educational stakeholders, and sustain academic performance during turbulent times in the Philippines.
