THE ROLE OF DIGITAL LITERACY IN COMBATING MISINFORMATION AND FAKE NEWS AMONG YOUTHS

In the digital age, misinformation and fake news have become pervasive, especially among youth who are active consumers of online content. This study explores the role of digital literacy in combating misinformation and fake news, focusing on equipping young people with the skills to critically evaluate and verify information encountered online. The research examines how digital literacy programs can empower youth to discern credible sources, understand media biases, and develop strategies to prevent the spread of false information. Through surveys and case studies, the study assesses the effectiveness of various digital literacy initiatives in fostering critical thinking and informed decision-making. Recommendations are provided for enhancing digital literacy education to address the growing concerns of misinformation in digital spaces.
